ESSE’s innovative British-built EC4i has been chosen by Kate Humble for the cookery courses in her new farm venture ‘Humble by Nature‘.
Humble by Nature’s HQ is a working farm just outside Monmouth in the Wye Valley, South Wales. For at least four generations it was owned by the local council and tenanted to young farming families. In 2010, when the last tenant retired and handed in his notice, the council decided to sell the farm, broken up into lots.
Kate and husband Ludo felt it was too important an asset to the local community to allow it to be sold in that way. They persuaded the council to allow them to take it on, keep it tenanted and run a business that, in turn, would support other rural businesses.
Humble by Nature runs a series of courses for the would-be smallholder (or anyone keen to acquire a new skill in a beautiful setting). Local and regional experts tutor small groups in a varied range of full or half day courses in craft, cookery, rural skills and animal husbandry.
With ESSE’s rural British heritage and commitment to promoting the use of locally-sourced ingredients – the partnership made perfect sense.
The ESSE EC4i is a cast iron electric range cooker with four independently-controlled ovens and a versatile five-zone induction hotplate.
It has already been given the seal of approval from Michelin-starred Chefs and Restauranteurs across the UK. It was even selected for the latest Big Brother Household, which The National Trust has chosen to open to the public for a weekend – and tickets have already sold out!
