ESSEs have a history of providing food and warmth in some unusual spots;
you’ll find one of ESSE’s ‘Mrs Sam’ cookers in Shackleton’s hut in the Antarctic, in homes as far flung as Australia, Africa and Canada, and recently, in an artists’ bothy in the Scottish wilderness.
Now, an ESSE EL 13Amp, Plus1 and a 500 stoves have been fitted in a windmill in the Netherlands. Not only an unusual home, but an unusual delivery as the windmill is on an island that can only be reached by boat.
Our retailer Paul Kershof from ESSE Cookers & Stoves Nederland tackled the installation: “This delivery was a bit of a challenge but we’re always happy to go the extra mile for our customers. These cookers are for the kitchen of a couple who also have a French restaurant in The Hague. The 500 stove will provide welcome heat for guests in their B&B which is next to the windmill.”
Pairing the electric EL 13Amp with the wood-burning Plus 1 gives the freedom and flexibility of two very different styles of cooking to suit your mood and time scale on any given day.
