Television chef Tim Maddams served up a real treat at the opening of a West Yorkshire business’ impressive new showroom.
Tim, who regularly co-featured in the hit TV series River Cottage, brought his very special take on cooking to the event at Scotts Arms Stoves and Cookers in Sicklinghall, near Wetherby.
As well as giving demonstrations and talking food he served up a four course meal to 50 invited guests to the opening of the showroom which exclusively features cookers manufactured by UK family firm ESSE.
Tim, who travelled from his home in Devon for the event, created dishes on the night using its new highly-acclaimed ESSE EL 13AMP – the most advanced 13amp heat storage cooker on the market.
Scotts Arms Stoves and Cookers co-owners Glen van Zellar and Duncan Teasdale were delighted with the response to the opening.
Duncan said: “This was a great opportunity for us to let people know what they can expect from our new showroom and to thank our current and future customers for their support since we opened 18 months ago.
“It was also a way of showing our appreciation for all the help and support we have received from ESSE since we started the venture.
“They have been with us every step of the way and Tim was able to demonstrate the real quality and usability of ESSE’s range of cookers and stoves.
“The showroom represents quite an investment for us but also highlights our confidence in the future of our business and the increasing demand that exists for ESSE products.
“Tim was fantastic on the evening; his approach to cooking is incredibly entertaining and informative. Everyone who attended had a truly enjoyable time with some great food at the end of it all.”
Alix Eltringham, Marketing Manager of Barnoldswick-based ESSE, said: “We were delighted to support Glen and Duncan at this landmark event in the development of their business.
“The showroom is a fantastic way of highlighting our range of products and our market-leading technology, which Tim put to good use on the evening to create a superb meal for everyone.”
ESSE cookers are hand crafted to order. The company, based at the Ouzledale Foundry, Long Ing, Barnoldswick, has been hand-building stoves and cast iron cookers for more than 160 years.
ESSE cookers and stoves were used in the Crimean War by Florence Nightingale, in the Antarctic by explorers Scott and Shackleton and by the world’s first ‘celebrity cook’ Mrs Beeton in her kitchen.
The new EL 13Amp has ESSE’s classic cast iron construction, heavy duty ovens, beautiful enamelling and the reassuring ‘solidity’ of its classic range cookers – all with modern, electric controllability and responsiveness.
The heat storage electric range cooker is available in a choice of 22 enamelled colours.
It has the quickest oven heating up times – from slumber to 200°C in less than 25 minutes – and independently controlled temperature settings.
